DC Values & Our Voice Are Vulnerable.
We Do Not Have the Same Protections as a State. But We Are United & We Are #DC Strong.
Home Rule is only possible because dc citizens fought for equality for decades & decades
We are not a state. We are a “territory” and they are trying to call us “an arm of the Federal Government.”
We are a population of 700,000 people who pay more in federal taxes than 20 other states.
We have NO representation in Congress.
We do have a Mayor, Councilmembers, and over 330 ANC Commissioners to represent our voice.
But Home Rule is limited and does not fully protect us.
They will interfere one way or the other
They say it loud and proud that DC isn’t capable of governing itself.
They say we are Broken. Dirty. Filthy. Crime Ridden.
What they really mean is that we’re too Black. Too Brown. Too Democratic. Too diverse. Too independent.
They want to change our laws that affect all of our lives.
DC is our home
We are more than just downtown monuments - Washington, DC is home to over 130 neighborhoods filled with activated, educated, interesting, DC citizens. We are devoted to the city we call home.

We hold shared values across the city. We embrace diversity and social justice. We care about housing our neighbors, having strong public schools, rewarding work with a living wage, and having a purposeful life.
we are powerful
We will protect each other, take action, and build a strong and resilient DC.
We are in this together and together we are #DC Strong!
DC is more than just monuments to the past.
We have a larger population than other states, contribute more in federal taxes than other states, serve in the military, and have a right to self-determination.
DC is our home, and we deserve a voice over our laws!
Congress Could Pass Laws That:
- Change DCPS Funding & Curriculum
- Forbid All Abortion Care - No Exceptions!
- Rewrite DC Voting Laws
- Reverse DC's Minority Protections and Equal Rights
- Make Bathroom Laws Like in Congress
- Criminalize Cannabis
- Repeal DC Environmental Protections
- Repeal DC Gun Protections
Congress is not accountable to us.
Congress does not know us.
Congress should not tell us how to live our lives.
That is NOT what democracy looks like.
Project 2025 is coming for us
DC is ground zero for a radical republican agenda.
We are their test case for what they want to create on a federal level.
What happens here, will not stay here.
Congress declared DC to be a ‘federal agency’ and prohibited us from accessing $1 billion dollars of our own tax money!
Money that Congress had already approved.
Project 2025 repeatedly refers to kids who attend DC Public Schools as “federal children.” They don’t recognize us as independent citizens with our own voices who deserve autonomy over DC kids!
Congress negotiated giving DC extra medicaid funding in exchange for the local costs associated with the federal government. Now, Congress wants to unilaterally renege on that deal leaving DC’s medical infrastructure crumbling.
