Congress must approve the DC budget.

We are a city of 134 neighborhoods and over 700,000 people.
Congress is not accountable to us.
Congress does not know us.
Congress should not tell us how to live our lives.
Yet in 2024, over 100 different men from around the nation introduced legislation to override our voice.
Home Rule is limited and does not protect us.
They will interfere one way or the other
They say it loud and proud that DC isn’t capable of governing itself.
They say we are Broken. Dirty. Filthy. Crime Ridden.
What they really mean is that we’re too Black. Too Brown. Too Democratic. Too diverse. Too independent.
They want to change our laws that affect all of our lives.
Congress can refuse to approve our budget if DC refuses to abide by their will. They can add legislation or “riders” to our budget bill.
Congress can create bills in Committees that overrule our laws and local values.
Congress can try to overturn Home Rule or reinstitute the Control Board, thus nullifying our Mayor, Council, and local control.
Project 2025 targets DC
Project 2025 specifically states that our bike lanes should be removed, our children are "federal children," our justice system is in shambles.
The administration targets dc
The president has repeatedly said that DC is a mess and only he can restore it. He has issued executive orders directly targeting the running of DC.
Congress Targets DC
Several members of the House have specifically stated that DC needs absolute Congressional control.
