Covering everything from environmental justice to immigrant rights to education, Empower DC hosts relevant, topical events to organize people interested in a more just and equitable DC.
DC 4 Democracy supports a variety of social justice movements across the city such as I82 for a tipped minimum wage, I84 for rank-choice voting, paid family leave, and fair elections. A true grassroots organizing advocacy group responding to current issues.
Extremely active east of the river, ACC helps bring people together to advocate for social economic improvements. They hold monthly meetings with guest speakers, a monthly faith leadership breakfast, have an excellent newsletter and involved in the community.
LWV has resources for many local issues such as Ward 8 City Council election and Immigrant Resources but is especially knowledgeable about DC Statehood and has many resources related to the history of DC Statehood and political activism around the issue.
Active in lobbying for DC Statehood, DC Dems host monthly statehood committee meetings.
ACLU has a chapter devoted to a nationwide campaign to achieve DC Statehood.
A strong and vibrant chapter, DC Metro DSA is an active group working in a multitude of ways to strengthen worker power and to democratize the economy and society. They act in solidarity to fight fascism. They have a detailed newsletter, many events and lots of resources.
Working to help support and coordinate grassroots action
Based in DC but overseeing a national program, UUSJ advocates for DC Statehood, has an active calendar of advocacy and trainings and provides a wealth of resources for organizers.
Extremely active with the DC budget, housing, and economic security JUJ provides an active calendar for civic engagement, trainings, and community.
A grassroots organization comprised of multifaiths, WIN is committed to training and developing neighborhood leaders, addressing community issues, and holding elected and corporate officials accountable in DC.
Focused on promoting racial equality, the Fair Budget Coalition covers policy issues on education, community safety, food access, health justice, housing security and more. It does an excellent job following the local budget and advocating for critical resources.
Working towards a guaranteed income for the DC area, DC GIC works to promoting the child tax credit, lobbies on the budget for funding of critical needs, and has implemented pilot programs for guaranteed income.
A coalition of labor unions, student and community groups, faith based organizations and individual members dedicated to protecting the values and rights of working people.
Working in the realms of education, climate, and unions, Defend DC is especially active in protecting immigrant rights and mutual aid.
Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network (MSMA) is made up of community organizations and hundreds of individual volunteers who are committed to supporting migrants and immigrants in DC.

A large and vibrant group that plans events, works on advocacy outreach, provides education, resources and support to the LGBTQ+ community.
With a focus on DC Govt action, they have an active social and advocacy program.
An abolitionist group that works on reformative justice programs, implements community defenders, has an excellent courtwatch program, and offers trainings on know your rights.
DC Appleseed tackles DC's challenges with projects that involve teamwork, research, advocacy, and litigation. All of our projects emphasize three key values: democratic participation, economic mobility, and racial equity.
Working on equal rights across all subjects, the ACLU offers a host of resources for immigrant rights, trans rights, and protest rights. They will also help defend and represent people in DC who are arrested at protests.
DC Justice Lab is researching, mobilizing, and advocating for large-scale changes to the criminal legal system.
Advocating for children and parents to have the schools and services they want, DC Pave is a leader in political advocacy in DC.
Using non-violent, disruptive, civil disobedience tactics to bring awareness and change to the climate crisis.
Leveraging experience and wide knowledge base, 3rd Act is a group aged 60+ who focus on climate activism and protecting democracy.
Ranks and files have grown dramatically this year and this group is very active in local environmental protections. Friendly and passionate group.
A woman-led grassroots organization that advocates for alternatives to war. They have an active calendar of speakers, actions, and events.
