We Can Mitigate Harms

Let's follow what is happening on the Hill and then inform our neighbors, bolster our local government, and design tactics for resistance.

we are making playbooks

Join one of our committees to help track how we may be affected, inform the public of potential affects through town halls and educational presentations, examine tactics that can help protect what may be lost.

This regime has a 984-page document detailing the changes they are implementing. We are at risk from this agenda.
Let’s inform ourselves and our neighbors of possible risks.

We are forming committees around different topics to determine what is at risk and how we can protect our local values if our laws are changed.

Nobody has all of the answers, but coming together to brainstorm and stand united will help us mitigate a lot of harm.

Current committees

The committees are working to bring together interested parties across the city to inform DC Citizens of possible impacts to their daily lives and provide connections for how to get involved. We will also brainstorm tactics on how we can make decisions in our everyday lives, that may help maintain the status quo and not backslide to lose progress.

We are evaluating govt action

With each potential risk, we are evaluating if our local government will be able to take action to protect the status quo. In some situations, yes; in others, no. We will coordinate action to encourage our government to step in and mitigate harms where possible.

We are collaborating with others

We are helping identify the key players in each field and work with them to enact strategies to keep DC safe. Help us build our network.

Education

Our Education Committee is forming a network of experts to address questions such as:

What happens to school choice if Congress implements a full voucher system?

What are the pros-cons and changes if IDEA funds go through Education Savings Accounts?

What would changes to our curriculum look like?

Help us plan and organize a town hall to help inform the public, strategize on how to ask our local government to protect what we value, and figure out tactics to protect our DC kids and teachers.

Budget Committee

The DC budget process calls for 3-month projections. It does not make speculation on possible recessionary factors. This means that the FY26 budget will substantially over project revenue. Unaccounted shortfalls that will affect DC greatly may include:

The budget committee will be following the budget process with a critical eye to possible budget reductions.
We will be lobbying for DC Citizens to continue to have a voice in budget matters if there are substantial modifications after the public comment period has closed.
